vRealize Automation 8.1 has been released on 14/04/2020. This release gives us some new features! Make sure to check out the release notes here.

We will be using vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager (vRSLCM) to upgrade our environment.

In my Lab environment I run the following:

• vRealize Automation 8.0.1.7355 (15294185)
• VIDM 3.3.1 
• vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager 8

All these components have been deployed using the vRA 8 Easy Installer and can be maintained using vRSLCM.

Let’s check the VMware Interoperability Matrix for vRA 8.1:

As you can see vRA 8.1 is compatible with vRSLCM 8.1 & VIDM 3.3.2. This means we will need to upgrade the whole environment if we want to use the latest vRA 8.1 functionalities (e.g.: Multi-tenancy).

Let’s get started! Below you can find all the steps to upgrade your vRA 8.0 environment to 8.1 using vRSLCM:

1. Upgrade to vRSLCM 8.1
2. Upgrade to VIDM 3.3.2
3. Upgrade to vRA 8.1
